The latest Fitbit has all but one of these features (period tracking) as well as the standard trackers such as heart rate monitoring, tap-to-pay, sleep tracking, that you would expect on both devices. However, watchOS 6 is a redeeming feature which comes with period tracking, a calculator which is better than the one currently available on the iPhone, a useful noise monitoring app, the watch App store (removing the need to download apps from your phone), and a compass. Considering the Fitbit Charge 4 has a multi-day battery, it’s hard to understand why Apple hasn’t yet given us that privilege with their latest smartwatch. The Series 6 battery isn’t an improvement compared to previous models since it requires charging daily which isn’t great for when you’re planning to use the device to track your sleep and discover it needs charging.

In terms of battery life, the always-on display is a valid concern, however, it does not seem to have a major impact (but as the device ages you may want to turn the always-on feature off).

The glossy screen dims during periods of inactivity, perhaps to conserve battery, and the display’s ambient light sensor means you don’t ever have to dim or brighten the device yourself since it adjusts automatically. With the Series 6, Apple utilised its always-on display, which was introduced with the Series 5 watch, meaning no need to lift your wrist - you can simply glance down and check your stats.
